Rod mill is widely used grinding mill to grind all kinds of ore and rocks in metal and nonmetal mining, water conservation, building materials,sand making industry and so on. Rod mill grinds ore into fine size, the output could be reach 0.2mm-5mm. It often worked in first-stage grinding before ball mill.
Rod mill is very similar than ball mill, except that it uses long steel rods with a diameter of 50-100mm as grinding media. The rods grind the ore by tumbling within the the mill, similar to the grinding balls in a ball mill.
Working principle of rod mill:
When the rod mill working, the materials are sent to the hollow cylinder for grinding through the hollow shaft.There are all kinds of grinding media with different diameters installed in the cylinder. Rotation of the horizontal cylinder creates centrifugal forces which elevates the long steel rods to a certain height where they fall back, grinding the materials.
